The Fairytale Meme
How it works:
1. pick a fairy tale
2. au our characters into it somehow, along the guidelines or not.
3. ???
4. profit. c:
1. ALADDIN The classic rags to riches story. One's royalty, and one's not, and they'll do anything to win the heart of their beloved--or at least besotted--even if it means pretend to be rich.
2. SLEEPING BEAUTY A character has been cursed, doomed to sleep forever. Only true love's kiss can wake them up.
3. ALICE IN WONDERLAND Things have gotten curioser and curioser, as a character's transported deep into a magic land where things aren't quite what they seem. A magical court, a reigning queen, talking animals--whatever you have it, you think you probably need to get out of this place and back home. But will your partner help you or harm you?
4. THE LITTLE MERMAID You're a mermaid, for whichever reason. Falling in love with people who have legs is such a chore, but sometimes love requires sacrifice.
5. CINDERELLA. You've been searching for your true love for years, in hopes to rediscover them after a magical night. Will you thread the night itself, or perhaps the reunion--or anything in between?
6. SNOW WHITE Living in the forest is not so bad when you make friends. You hope someday your prince will come. Preferrably before someone realizes you're the fairest of them all and tries to kill you. At least that true love's kiss comes in handy!
7. THE FROG PRINCE Someone was once a handsome prince(ss) and they've been turned into an animal. True love's kiss, again, conquers all, so you better get to hopping. (Or leaping, or slithering...)
8. RAPUNZEL Rapunzellll! Let down your haiiiir! Being cooped up in a castle for all of your life has given you quite the sense of adventure, so why not let the person knocking on your door in? It must be safe, right? Right?
9. LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD Grandmother warned you not to go walking in those spooky old woods alone, but you did it anyway. With a wolf on your heels, you better start hoping the wolf is kinder than you think--or if not, that you'll run into a kind huntsman to help save the day. Or, even if not that, you'll rely on your powers of badassery to beat the wolf yourself!
10. GOLDILOCKS & THE THREE BEARS Someone's sleeping in your bed! Kick them out, let them stay. I'm not judging.c
11. TARZAN Someone isn't what you'd maybe call a functioning human being. But that's alright--being raised by monkeys (or wolves, or what have you) isn't a reason not to try and understand them. In fact, maybe you're intrigued by the way they look at life. They could certainly teach you as much as you taught them.
12. PINOCCHIO You're a real boy! Whether you were a puppet or a robot, something--and who only knows what--has turned you into a human. Maybe it was just the love of your creator. Maybe it was a little fairy. Who knows.
13. OTHER. Seriously, knock yourself out.
Feel free to ignore the prompts completely and just use the name of the fairy tale--twisted fairytales, once upon a time style fairy tales...everything is fair game. Just don't eat the poison apple!

... Okay pouting just a little.]
... Wait, did you just say quests? What kind of quests? [Might be some sort of clue about her current location and predicament.]

You're at Camp Half-Blood, but if you're not Greek, and you're not Roman, then I have no idea how you even got inside the borders. It's, uh - on Long Island.
[ And why is she so interested in quests, anyway? He just said they hadn't had any in a while. ] Well, you know. Errands, fetch quests, saving the world. The usual. [ Shrug. ]

Long Island?! [Nope. Nope. NOPE. She seriously did not get knocked across the country. SHE SERIOUSLY DID NOT. And what's this about- ohhhhh gods she is so lost. What is even happening right now? Don't mind if she rounds the crates, thinking, thinking... she really needs a game plan, but first things first- questions. Lots of them.]
Okay. Long Island. Camp Half-Blood... And you said that torch thing has happened before? So... that means you're a demigod, too?

- Oh, more questions. Great. ] Ding, ding, ten points to Wonder Girl. [ He raises one hand, wiggles his fingers, and - yep, more flames, though this time they're considerably better controlled. ] Leo Valdez, son of Hephaestus.
So, you're not Roman, but you're clearly not from around here, but you say you're a demigod. What gives? [ He hasn't heard of any Greek demigods surviving on their own for long. They almost always end up at camp, if not dead. ]

No, I'm Greek- well, half Greek. I'm a daughter of Zeus.
[And since we're showing off powers and everything, she'll just levitate herself up off the ground about a foot or so and hold that long enough to convince him.]
Flight, superhuman strength and reflexes. I just can't believe- [And now she touches down again without missing a verbal beat.] -that I have FAMILY on Long Island and I didn't know about it! This would be so much cooler if I could remember how and why I ended up on the other side of the country.

Extinguishing the flames, he watches her with a raised eyebrow and silently wishes he had more cool powers to show off. ] I just have the Blessing and mad skill with mechanics. [ Shrug. ] I'm surprised you haven't been here before. Chiron said it's rare for us to survive so long outside of camp.
/casually slips this... on in here...... B>
Hold on... This doesn't make any sense. Wonder Woman definitely would have known if there was an entire camp full of demigods in New York, and I'd definitely remember hearing about it if you guys have gone on "world saving quests". [ Air quotes implied.
But really, she needs more details, so... more questions- sorry friend. ]
What year is it?

[ To be fair, he hadn't been paying much attention to TV at the time, being on the run, but that's beside the point right now. ]
And there's the Mist which'll hide things if you don't know what you're looking for, even for demigods. I can't always see through it, either, so maybe that's it.

... But you know what, traveling back in time two years is A: The least of her worries, and B: Hardly the weirdest thing that she's ever heard of happening. Heck, one of her teammates was a time traveler.
And he goes on about the Mist and how it can deceive even demigods into seeing things that aren't there, or not seeing things that ARE there. It's a lot to take in, even for her, all things considered. ]
Then how did I get here...?
[ Said to herself almost under her breath, a pensive expression on her face. ] ... I've got to try to find a way back, but I don't even know where to start.
[ She brings that hand from the back of her head around to her forehead, trying to will away the dull ache long enough to focus. ] Look, thanks for answering my questions- Leo -I think I'd better get going. I need to go find some answers. Would you mind letting me back out of here?
no subject
[ He shrugs and heads for the door, talking as he goes. ] Okay, but your best bet in camp will probably be Chiron. He's the centaur who hangs around the Big House - you can't miss him.
[ He gives her an unsure look before continuing. ] I could take you there, if you want. It's easy to get lost in the woods if you don't know where you're going, and we keep monsters out there, too. Something about more realistic training.
