The Fairytale Meme
How it works:
1. pick a fairy tale
2. au our characters into it somehow, along the guidelines or not.
3. ???
4. profit. c:
1. ALADDIN The classic rags to riches story. One's royalty, and one's not, and they'll do anything to win the heart of their beloved--or at least besotted--even if it means pretend to be rich.
2. SLEEPING BEAUTY A character has been cursed, doomed to sleep forever. Only true love's kiss can wake them up.
3. ALICE IN WONDERLAND Things have gotten curioser and curioser, as a character's transported deep into a magic land where things aren't quite what they seem. A magical court, a reigning queen, talking animals--whatever you have it, you think you probably need to get out of this place and back home. But will your partner help you or harm you?
4. THE LITTLE MERMAID You're a mermaid, for whichever reason. Falling in love with people who have legs is such a chore, but sometimes love requires sacrifice.
5. CINDERELLA. You've been searching for your true love for years, in hopes to rediscover them after a magical night. Will you thread the night itself, or perhaps the reunion--or anything in between?
6. SNOW WHITE Living in the forest is not so bad when you make friends. You hope someday your prince will come. Preferrably before someone realizes you're the fairest of them all and tries to kill you. At least that true love's kiss comes in handy!
7. THE FROG PRINCE Someone was once a handsome prince(ss) and they've been turned into an animal. True love's kiss, again, conquers all, so you better get to hopping. (Or leaping, or slithering...)
8. RAPUNZEL Rapunzellll! Let down your haiiiir! Being cooped up in a castle for all of your life has given you quite the sense of adventure, so why not let the person knocking on your door in? It must be safe, right? Right?
9. LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD Grandmother warned you not to go walking in those spooky old woods alone, but you did it anyway. With a wolf on your heels, you better start hoping the wolf is kinder than you think--or if not, that you'll run into a kind huntsman to help save the day. Or, even if not that, you'll rely on your powers of badassery to beat the wolf yourself!
10. GOLDILOCKS & THE THREE BEARS Someone's sleeping in your bed! Kick them out, let them stay. I'm not judging.c
11. TARZAN Someone isn't what you'd maybe call a functioning human being. But that's alright--being raised by monkeys (or wolves, or what have you) isn't a reason not to try and understand them. In fact, maybe you're intrigued by the way they look at life. They could certainly teach you as much as you taught them.
12. PINOCCHIO You're a real boy! Whether you were a puppet or a robot, something--and who only knows what--has turned you into a human. Maybe it was just the love of your creator. Maybe it was a little fairy. Who knows.
13. OTHER. Seriously, knock yourself out.
Feel free to ignore the prompts completely and just use the name of the fairy tale--twisted fairytales, once upon a time style fairy tales...everything is fair game. Just don't eat the poison apple!

[ He tips the make believe scales, gesturing more towards the fire and the bed that he's been inhabiting for the past hour: ] Not freezing to death. I think one is more shucked than the other.
[ Should he throw him out for coming into his home uninvited? Yes. He prefers being left alone, although there are a number of people-- others like him, others that are more like his current "guest," and others that are something else entirely-- that he'll associate with. It's too much trouble most days, and he doesn't have the patience for interacting with all of these people. But he's not a callous individual by nature, uncaring. He's just... rough around the edges.
He can sense the panic that's rising in the blond, but he doesn't address it in a way most wolves would. Rather, he just sits and regards him, dropping his hands down to the table and moving to push his chair back. ]

he doesn't flinch when alby stands up, though he does look far more tense, immediately taking one step backwards, protectively in front of the basket full of things he'd saved from the forest for the rest of the kids back home. so he kind of screwed up big time, and newt's currently weighing his options; if he ran, he'd be caught in minutes, considering his damnable limp and the fact that the guy in front of him is, pretty much literally the big bad wolf.
(except he's kind of short.)
either way--he'd be doomed. so he holds out both of his hands in surrender, figuring he might as well cut his losses. ] If you're gonna kill me, can y'do me a favor and take these back to the village? We don't got a lot out of food, and I'm pretty sure the youngins don't deserve to die cause of my stupid mistake.

Guy's pretty tall, but he's scrawny. Hardly much of a problem for what the villages have rumored to be one of the monsters in the dark of the woods.
He chuffs and shakes his head, dusting off his hands and coming closer to him. Humans seem to forget that wolves weren't always the monsters they made them out to be, and even if he's a loner he can understand what he's trying to do for the people that make up his 'pack' of sorts. ]
I'm not gonna kill you, sit down before you give yourself a heart attack 'n do it yourself. Shucking humans, always thinking the Red Riding Hood story is the be-all, end-all of wolves.

[ there is definitely sarcasm in that one, which he also probably shouldn't be sniping at the wolf with, but come on. slowly, newt lowers his hands, letting them fall to his side, though he doesn't really loosen up any. though the guy says he's not gonna kill him--and newt doesn't really think he will, anymore--you never know, and he'd always taught the kids to be careful. ] Didn't expect a wolf to live in a bloody house, either.

The caution's to be expected, though, but he just moves on easily from it as he goes to walk past him to where the cloak's been put up to dry from the snow. He crouches down next to the fire, reaching out to get some wood from the side of the fireplace to prod around at the logs already burning. ] Some wolves do, some wolves don't. Depends on the wolf.
