[ mika has to admit, running dead into a pillar in the middle of the castle was not his finest moment.
he didn't plan on doing it, but he also didn't plan on seeing the most beautiful person he's ever seen in his entire life, and he didn't plan on seeing her with wings. it had just been a passing glance, at first, when he was scurrying through the castle, but the beautiful angel girl came and picked him up off the ground when he fell.
mika's always been a bit squirmy around guys, other people in the castle. he sticks close to oshi-san and avoids other people, but when arashi giggles at him and helps him up, mika finds she's the easiest person to talk to in the whole place. he keeps the secret, berates himself for being an idiot for thinking he saw such a thing, but the more time he spend with her, the more obvious they become.
wings. naru-chan's a real angel.
so, when she confronts him about it, mika looks startled, wide eyed. he looks like he wants to run, actually, anxiety bubbling up in his chest, and the first thing he blurts out is a-- ] 'm sorry, Naru-chan, I didn't mean ta look--!
[ as if he'd seen her naked instead of something like this, but it feels that way. mika feels like he's intruding on a part of her life by saying yes, i see them, but even now, his gaze flickers up to the pristine, beautiful white feathers at her back. ]
[ to be fair, it's not like arashi keeps her wings hidden away.
not when there's only one person who's destined to see them, and she's used to them enough that they don't get in the way all that much. so in all honesty, sometimes it feels like they aren't even there all that much, because of how little attention they draw in general for something so ethereal.
but it's easy to notice, after a while - how mika's gaze flickers over them more than a few times, enough for her to catch on that it's probably not just some kind of coincidence.
his reaction now just about confirms it completely, though, and when mika looks like he's about to bolt, wide eyed and startled, it's mostly on instinct that she reaches out to grab his arm, her fingers closing around his arm to keep him from running.
it takes her a moment before her grip loosens a little, like she's vaguely aware that she could hurt him. to her credit, her voice is still mostly steady. ]
No-- it's okay, Mika-chan, I-- [ and there's a sharp inhale, and it's subconscious, when she lets her wings unfurl further-- of course he doesn't remember anything from their previous lifetimes, not yet at least.
... and then it registers dimly that this really shouldn't be the kind of conversation they should be having in the middle of the hallway, hence why she quickly tugs him into a small alcove where they're reasonably hidden.
and the subsequent brush of her wings against his arm when she does so is just enough to count as accidental(ly on purpose), so she's just watching his reaction closely. ]
There's nothing wrong with being able to see them, it's just--
