[ To be entirely fair to her, Scott and Stiles are the kings of awkwardness most of the time. Stiles makes up for it with his sarcasm, Scott tries with... he doesn't know. (Sincerity, sweetheart.) But he listens attentively as she explains, turned towards her with a hand on his ankle and his other arm perched on the top of the seat. ] Did, uh. Did they give the crash course on terms and stuff?

[ He's not the best at explaining things, like some people, but he'll do his best if it means he can help. Especially if Kira is a little in the dark about everything. Is she going to have to take extra lessons to catch up with everyone else? He hopes it won't be a lot, the classes are hard enough on their own half the time. ]

You definitely don't look eleven, if that helps? [ #nailed it combo ]

[ Is it bad that she really, really really wants to lean into his arm right there? Like really bad. Oh god, Kira, play it cool. She shakes her head, long bangs falling back into her eyesight almost instantly. ] I mean, a little. The moving pictures are awesome, and I guess I was--what, muggle born? Dad's been keeping this from me forever, apparently. I mean, he wrote a whole thesis about it under my nose, so...

[ So Kira, you are totally rambling again. And then Scott compliments her and it's pretty undeniable that she lights up a little, smiling up to her eyes, cheeks flushing again as she turns to really look at him instead of her lap. ] I--neither do you.

[ Wow. ] I mean--you, uh, you're my age too, right?

[ It is absolutely integral that Scott not reach out to tuck her bangs back from her face, because they just met and for as soft as it looks he knows better. His eyes are still drawn to the sweep of her hair, though, before going back to her face. He can't help the little grin he gives her, bouncing a little in place. He can absolutely explain this to her, and maybe he's a little excited about that. ] Someone that's pureblood has like, this long line of magic on both sides of their family. A halfblood is someone that's magic on one side and muggle on the other. And then muggleborn is someone born into a non-magic family.

[ A little voice that sounds a lot like the missing Stiles nags at him, but he dismisses it. There's more than that, but it's the important stuff and that's what matters, all right? One thing at a time, sometimes even he got confused about it sometimes.

His slight bounce leaves as she actually looks at him, and maybe he melts a little even as he laughs. ] I totally turned eleven this summer. [ But he grins still, shaking his head-- and then realizing he should probably nod and confirm. ]

...Gotcha. [ What. ] So that makes me a halfblood, I guess. It makes me sound like some kind of superhero.

[ Which, hey, random superpowers. Maybe she's secretly the star of her own new magic comic book. That'd be seriously awesome (although Kira questions why anyone might pick her to be the protagonist--awkward a good protagonist does not make.)

She blinks at him with the joke, because she definitely believed him for two seconds, then a smile breaks out across her face and she shakes her head, grinning at him in the way that lights up her eyes. ] You totally come off as eleven.

[ Yeah Scott doesn't know either. But he tries to know, so there's that. ] Me too. My mom's the head nurse at the school, which is kinda fun 'cause she's Madam Melissa McCall.

[ Nothing about his father, but after what a jerk he was this summer when he dropped in on them? He is basically resolutely pretending that he does not exist and that there is no Rafael McCall to speak of. ] Which is kinda like a superhero name, now that I think about it. My friend, Stiles, he reads uh. Muggle comics way more than I do-- he compared Hogwarts to a school for superheroes once.

[ What was it again? Xavier's? He can't remember because she just lit up and he's totally charmed by it. ] There's no age potions here, promise.
