[ tessa rae murphy is not the type to get crushes. ever studious and ever busy, she embroils herself in honors classes and student government, trying to pad her resume enough that her 4.0 GPA will get her to a nice college to study engineering. it's hard for girls in a male dominated field like that, as her mother's told her over and over, and she and her brother are going to be competing for scholarships, considering his GPA matches tessa's if not eclipses it. so she doesn't have time to have crushes.

except, she kind of does.

their school's been the talk of the town lately--glade high is the first school in the state to have a female quarterback. not only that, but a good one. minji park's name is in all the local newspapers and all over their trophy room, and tess has no doubt that she's going to get into any school in the country with her brains and her impressive football talent. she's jealous, that's all. she's not always watching her practice when she's supposed to be walking to study group. she's definitely not distracted by her when she picks up her flute for band--she definitely never misses her dot on the field when minji runs by leading the boys in stadiums.

the first football game of the season rolls around and tess is suited up in her band uniform, looking over her memorized fight song music one last time. they're supposed to be reviewing post pre-game in order to play as soon as they get a first down or a touchdown, but tess is distracted as minji warms up on the side of the field.

the nicest thing about being on the woodwinds line is that at least she gets to be in the front row of the bleachers to ogle her a little. ]

[ It had taken a lot for Minji Park to get to where she is now. She had to fight to even join the football team, let alone become the quarterback - she's not the captain of the team, which she's fine with, because that's Alby, but the quarterback is the brainpower of the team - and now she's got the eyes of the state on her. Which, not that big of a problem, it gets her plenty of opportunities for college and scholarships and even sports teams, since people are trying to be progressive. But it's also earning her a lot of scrutiny, which leads to her needing to prove herself.

Like she wouldn't do that in the first place, but still. Now it's a lot more pressure than she originally anticipated.

Her parents tell her that they're proud of her no matter what, that she's already doing everything that she can. But she knows better than to think that they don't want her very best. Which means no dating, no boyfriends or girlfriends or bothfriends. No one to distract her from her GPA or her games, because they're leading the charge in wins. Have been ever since she joined the team and conspired with Alby.

But, she's not going to listen to them. Because she has eyes for the prettiest band nerd to ever exist, who comes from the socialite class. Their social classes could not be any more different, though their social circles at school overlap, and they take a lot of similar classes. So she sees the Murphy daughter literally everywhere, and she will never stop staring.

Apparently this is mutual, however, because she's caught her ogling her a few times in the past. And now. Minji finishes the bulk of her stretches, before she slowly gets up, rolling her shoulders and making her way over to where the woodwinds line usually stands when they play during the game. And right towards Tessa. ]
