The Fairytale Meme
How it works:
1. pick a fairy tale
2. au our characters into it somehow, along the guidelines or not.
3. ???
4. profit. c:
1. ALADDIN The classic rags to riches story. One's royalty, and one's not, and they'll do anything to win the heart of their beloved--or at least besotted--even if it means pretend to be rich.
2. SLEEPING BEAUTY A character has been cursed, doomed to sleep forever. Only true love's kiss can wake them up.
3. ALICE IN WONDERLAND Things have gotten curioser and curioser, as a character's transported deep into a magic land where things aren't quite what they seem. A magical court, a reigning queen, talking animals--whatever you have it, you think you probably need to get out of this place and back home. But will your partner help you or harm you?
4. THE LITTLE MERMAID You're a mermaid, for whichever reason. Falling in love with people who have legs is such a chore, but sometimes love requires sacrifice.
5. CINDERELLA. You've been searching for your true love for years, in hopes to rediscover them after a magical night. Will you thread the night itself, or perhaps the reunion--or anything in between?
6. SNOW WHITE Living in the forest is not so bad when you make friends. You hope someday your prince will come. Preferrably before someone realizes you're the fairest of them all and tries to kill you. At least that true love's kiss comes in handy!
7. THE FROG PRINCE Someone was once a handsome prince(ss) and they've been turned into an animal. True love's kiss, again, conquers all, so you better get to hopping. (Or leaping, or slithering...)
8. RAPUNZEL Rapunzellll! Let down your haiiiir! Being cooped up in a castle for all of your life has given you quite the sense of adventure, so why not let the person knocking on your door in? It must be safe, right? Right?
9. LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD Grandmother warned you not to go walking in those spooky old woods alone, but you did it anyway. With a wolf on your heels, you better start hoping the wolf is kinder than you think--or if not, that you'll run into a kind huntsman to help save the day. Or, even if not that, you'll rely on your powers of badassery to beat the wolf yourself!
10. GOLDILOCKS & THE THREE BEARS Someone's sleeping in your bed! Kick them out, let them stay. I'm not judging.c
11. TARZAN Someone isn't what you'd maybe call a functioning human being. But that's alright--being raised by monkeys (or wolves, or what have you) isn't a reason not to try and understand them. In fact, maybe you're intrigued by the way they look at life. They could certainly teach you as much as you taught them.
12. PINOCCHIO You're a real boy! Whether you were a puppet or a robot, something--and who only knows what--has turned you into a human. Maybe it was just the love of your creator. Maybe it was a little fairy. Who knows.
13. OTHER. Seriously, knock yourself out.
Feel free to ignore the prompts completely and just use the name of the fairy tale--twisted fairytales, once upon a time style fairy tales...everything is fair game. Just don't eat the poison apple!

Leo?

Natalie's wandered off for a moment, leaving him behind while she enjoys her natural environment. She belongs here, he thinks; she'll thrive in a place like this that isn't so afraid of her, where she doesn't have to hide so much. He's lost sight of her, but he can still follow her, the magic in her blood scented clear in the air. He could sense that a mile away; it's how he'd known she wasn't normal to begin with. She can wander; as long as she's relatively close, he won't lose her. ]
Yeah?

[ She's worried still, even in her natural environment. She knows this isn't the place for him, but she adores him for coming with her. Finding answers had been her priority but so far, there's been no one who can help her learn self control. It's back to working independently once more.
Well, not quite. She still has him. He is all she has right now. In his own way, he helps her, talking her off ledges, out of bouts of anxiety. ]

[ She's helped him through his transformations before, dealt with the heat of his home and forge and the caves he's taken sanctuary in as a hunted dragon no longer in control of himself. She's done all of that, despite being his opposite, despite knowing exactly how dangerous he and his kind can be. He can handle a bit of cold, if it makes her happy. ]

It isn't difficult to find the familiar when she has Leo around. She's air and mist and slippery paths and should melt when she's with him. In a way, she does, clearly seen in the way she smiles at him. There's no answer to his question, but she does lean in and press her cold lips to his instead. ]

[ She wrinkles her mouth when she pulls away from him, lifting a hand to shake some of the snow from his hair. ] Thank you. [ For spending too much time with her, among other things. ]

[ Trying to suppress a laugh at her actions - there will be more snowflakes to replace those she shook out of his hair in just a minute or two - and gives her an affectionate look, pleased to be alone with her where no one else is likely to find them, or hurt. ] I'll try not to melt it all.

[ Even if there's overwhelming proof that they're destined not to be together in the end, moments like this tell her otherwise. She loves him and that, she can't ignore. ] Maybe I can live here in a castle on a mountain and we'll find a cave for you nearby.

[ Natalie nuzzles her nose against his, mild desperation in her eyes, easily hidden when they crinklles as she smiles again. ]

Inverted 10 (There's someone sleeping in my universe!)
Problem number four? She couldn't fly. Whatever that blast had done to her it still had her head pounding and her vision swimming if she moved too fast. Flying was definitely out. A weary exhale broke the silence first.]
Walking it is.
[Not a great plan, but definitely her only viable option. She picked her path after figuring out which direction was which and started marching.
Things started getting weird, even by her standards, when the walking table crossed her path. But as she tried to get a closer look she took a sudden tumble down a hill side. Her rolling came to an abrupt stop as she crashed into a large rock, stifling a Greek curse. A frustrated puff of air blew some hair and leaves out of her eyes and Cassie braced her hands on the ground to push herself back up. Right in front of her was something that looked about right for a bad guy's hideout of some kind. There was a friggin' bunker just chilling inside the rock face!
Also, conveniently, the doors were open- she had no idea what that meant but she had to assume her teammates might be trapped somewhere inside. She heard the doors kicking into gear and made a split second decision, ducking quietly inside the facility and down behind some crates off to one side. Now she was getting her first proper look at it.]
Holy lightning bolt...!

She got her first glimpse of Leo from behind a crate of- ... were those bronze plates? And what was that over there- swords? Spears? They looked like something she might have seen on Paradise Island. So, wow, this guy was either REALLY into his Greek studies or... what, she'd stumbled across a props studio? ... Inside... a... rock face...
... Okay maybe not. Besides, her gut was telling her something wasn't right and Cassie was inclined to listen to that. She'd still not found any sign of the others, and if the others had picked up on her presence then they hadn't shown it. Surely M'gann would have been in touch by now. So new plan. Get answers- Wonder Girl style. The footsteps were drawing towards her crates- now or never.
When Wonder Girl came up from behind the crates she was wearing her Serious Business face. Her hands were already clasping her lasso, poised to put it to use if he forced her hand.
He was probably going to- unless he was a civ. Then she was going to feel REALLY terrible about this.]
Alright, hold it right there!

Who the heck are you?
no subject
I'll ask the questions! Who are you, where am I, and what did you do with the others?

The doors were open. ... But sorry. [At least she didn't tear them off.
She straightens up and releases the lasso back to her side then but doesn't necessarily drop her guard. Easier to cover up with an authoritative air than the bumbling green thumb that she hasn't been in like, three and a half years.] I'm Wonder Girl, and I'm looking for the other members of my team.
[She points to the double-W insignia on her shirt then, tapping it and changing back from her stealth attire to the normal set. If he knows her he prooobably won't recognize W.G. in black. She still assumes he's just a civilian at this point. Just a very eclectic one.] Are you hurt? [Pointed and concerned look at his pants for emphasis.]
no subject
He simply raises an eyebrow at the explanation she gives him. Sounds bogus. "Wonder Girl," really? ] Right, and I'm the Human Torch, so don't worry about me. That just... happens sometimes. Look, I don't know anything about any team, okay? We haven't had a quest here in a while, so you must be Roman, I guess? When did they start giving out code names?
[ And what would his be? Serious concerns here. ]
1/? REACTION
2/3?
3/3
... Okay pouting just a little.]
... Wait, did you just say quests? What kind of quests? [Might be some sort of clue about her current location and predicament.]
no subject
You're at Camp Half-Blood, but if you're not Greek, and you're not Roman, then I have no idea how you even got inside the borders. It's, uh - on Long Island.
[ And why is she so interested in quests, anyway? He just said they hadn't had any in a while. ] Well, you know. Errands, fetch quests, saving the world. The usual. [ Shrug. ]
no subject
Long Island?! [Nope. Nope. NOPE. She seriously did not get knocked across the country. SHE SERIOUSLY DID NOT. And what's this about- ohhhhh gods she is so lost. What is even happening right now? Don't mind if she rounds the crates, thinking, thinking... she really needs a game plan, but first things first- questions. Lots of them.]
Okay. Long Island. Camp Half-Blood... And you said that torch thing has happened before? So... that means you're a demigod, too?
